The push for socialism in America is coming right out of the universities, Home Depot co-founder Bernie Marcus said.
During a recent interview with Fox News, Marcus talked about the decline of Venezuela and Cuba and how it served as a “perfect example of socialism gone wrong.”
“They [Cuba] took a great country and they put it right down the drain in every way possible,” he said. “People are starving to death. Medical [care] is not available for them.”
Just after the 10th anniversary of the fall of Lehman Brothers, co-founder of the Home Depot (HD) Ken Langone cited the market crash that followed as the reason many millennials have a negative view of capitalism.
“They were 8, 9, 10, 11, 12 years old,” Langone told Yahoo Finance’s Julia La Roche at the All Markets Summit on Sept. 20. “So capitalism did not present itself very well.”
Langone went on to suggest that countries that have adopted a socialist system aren’t doing well. To the millennials who seem to favor socialism, Langone said: “I’ll put you in my plane and I’ll fly you down to Venezuela, and let’s see how good socialism is doing down there.”
Two on-duty police offers are critically injured after a shooting at a Home Depot in Dallas on Tuesday, with a civilian security guard also injured, according to authorities.
The two officers were responding to a call by an off-duty officer to assist in an arrest at the store late Tuesday afternoon, Dallas Police Chief Renée Hall told reporters in a press conference. Shortly after the officers arrived on the scene, there was a call for assistance, Hall said. The injured officers were then transported by Fire Dallas Rescue to the Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital.
Hall would not give specifics on the conditions of those injured, including a guard at the store.
